AIGA T-SHIRT DESIGN

The purpose of this design was to create a t-shirt for the AIGA Flagler College Chapter using text and images that define graphic design for the designer. The target audience included college students interested in Art and Design. The idea for the project came out of the experience that many of the art students at Flagler College get. The materials utilized in the design are the same ones utilized in art classes at Flagler. It was important to get a good variety of supplies, but it became difficult to keep coming up with materials that could also be used as a part of a letter. After coming up with enough different materials, all that was left was to create each object using vector images and then arrange them into the AIGA letters. When arranging the materials it was important to not use one image too much to avoid repetitiveness between the letters. The color palette was limited to four colors, and it was important to pick colors that were the real-life colors of the objects in the composition. This helps with the recognizability of each object. The font used beneath the AIGA spelling slightly upscale but not too flashy. It compliments the main design and doesn’t look too out of place next to it. This design does a good job of communicating the message because it is instantly recognizable as artsy, but also explains exactly what AIGA is.
